I was born and raised in Wabasha, MN and lived out in the country. After graduating from high school I attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education. While at the University of Northern Iowa I participated on the wrestling team. I earned three NCAA Division 1 tournament berths and finished in the top ten in the country during my senior year. My first teaching job was as a physical education and health education teacher at Osseo High School in the twin cities. I coached wrestling, football, and track during my tenure in Osseo. I earned a masters degree in curriculum and instruction from Saint Mary’s University. After I received my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction I moved onto an administrative program and earned my Principal and Superintendent licensure from St. Cloud State University. My first administrative job was the Dean of Students at Osseo High School. I then went onto become the Principal of Hinckley/Finlayson Junior High and High School for two years. In 2005 I joined the La Crescent administrative team and served as the Principal of the Middle School, Alternative Learning Center, and Elementary School. In 2012 I accepted the position of Superintendent for Caledonia Area Public Schools. I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to serve the students in the Caledonia area.
I am married to my “high school sweetheart”, Jodi. We have two children (Brady and Riley). When I am not working in Caledonia, I am an Adjunct Instructor at Winona State University. My hobbies include: hanging out with my family, running/biking, fishing, hunting, singing and the playing the guitar, watching my Vikings and Twins, listening to some great live music, and serving our communities by contributing to several community organizations.
