On November 3, 2026, Caledonia Area Public Schools voters will be asked to consider 2 referendum questions.

Question1

A $9.7 million referendum to address critical facility challenges and secruity updates at both the Elementary and Middle/High School.

Elementary School Projects

Secure Entrance

  • The main entrance needs to be redesigned to better regulate visitor access. The school’s door locking system requires upgrades to better monitor all access points. 

Restroom Renovation

  • Existing restrooms have failing plumbing and fixtures and do not meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) accessibility code requirements.

Roof Sections

  • Identified roof sections are beyond their service life and require replacement.

Roof Top Air Handling Unit Replacement

  • Current units have exceeded their useful service life and are failing, resulting in energy inefficiencies and inconsistent heating and cooling.meet

Middle/HS Projects

Improve Security

  • The school’s door locking system requires updates to better secure the entire school. In addition, updates are needed at the main entrance to better regulate visitors. 

Interior Finish Repair and Replacement

  • Identified doors, casework, and flooring sections are in need of repair or replacement due to wear and age. 

Expand Outdoor Storage Building

  • Additional storage space is needed. This will free up space in other areas of the school.

HVAC Updates

  • System controls and pumps that run the school’s heating and cooling system are in need of replacement due to their age. 

Question 2

A $3 million bond to renovate and expand the Career and Technical Education (CTE) classroom and labs, also known as "the shop."

  • Expand the woods, small engine, and metal labs.
  • Renovate classroom space to better support hands-on project-based learning.
  • Update technology and equipment to meet the course requirements and provide job-like experiences for high demand positions in the trades. 

Note: Question 1 must pass for Question 2 to pass.

QUESTION 1: Shall the school board of Independent School District No. 299 (Caledonia Area Public Schools) be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $9,700,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including safety + security improvements at school sites and facilities; the construction of roof replacements and repairs; the construction and installation of mechanical and HVAC improvements; the renovation, remodeling and upgrading of restrooms; the removal + replacement of flooring; and the construction of a storage building and press box?

QUESTION 2: If School District Question 1 is approved, shall the school board of Independent School District No. 299 (Caledonia Area Public
Schools) also be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $3,000,000 to provide
funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and
facilities, including the construction and equipping of new career and
technical education (CTE) and science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) spaces at the Middle School/High School?
