Daniel Winkler

Background: I grew up in a small town outside of Green Bay, WI (yes, I’m a Packers fan). I graduated from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI, with a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Management and a minor in Spanish. After completing temporary jobs in upstate New York conducting bat research and grassland bird research in southeastern Tennessee, I decided to go back to school for education. In 2012 I received my education certification from St. Norbert College in DePere, WI.

Career: I began my teaching career at Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay where I taught Physical Science, Earth Science, and IB Environmental Systems and Societies for nine years. Afterwards I switched to a small, public school in Hilbert, WI, and taught Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Ecology for two years. With my partner living in LaCrosse, I decided to relocate and bought a house in Caledonia. I have been teaching here since 2023 and currently teach Physical Science, Earth and Environmental Science, Science of Our National Parks, and Science of Superheroes.

Hobbies/Interests: I have coached both volleyball and track and continue to run during the summer months. I also enjoy hiking and exploring new parks, birdwatching, and learning more about the natural environment. I have also dabbled in photography, drawing, painting, and hopefully woodworking in the near future.
